4/24/10: This past week many flights were canceled due to heavy fog (濃霧). Due to the weather, chinese tourists (中國觀光客) at an airport in Kaohsiung (高雄小港機場) and the Kinmen Airport (金門機場) were affected. At 金門機場, chinese tourists slapped a Taiwanese tour guide (導遊), while at 高雄小港機場 chinese tourists were also upset and had a few altercations with airport personnel and police. Do chinese tourists act like this when they travel to other countries?

【Politics & Law】A vote will decide on the fate of the President Ma Ying-jeou nominee Tuesday, but the DPP only holds 33 seats out of 113 at the Legislative Yuan. Huang was accused of excessive zeal and partial behavior in a corruption case against former Penghu County Magistrate Kao Chih-peng.One nurse committed suicide and another died of cancer during the case, reports said. Huang was chief prosecutor in Penghu at the time.

Children Health Promotion Society president Lee Hung-chang (李宏昌) said the nation’s birth rate has hit a new low — 1.05 children are born per woman, the lowest in the world.

【Politics】President Ma Ying-jeou’s (馬英九) approval rating and confidence index slipped further this month, a poll released by the Chinese-language Global Views magazine yesterday showed. The poll, conducted by Global Views Survey Research Center between Monday and Wednesday, showed Ma’s approval rating dropping 0.9 points from last month to 23.8 percent, while his disapproval rating increased from 62.7 percent to 66 percent this month.
